R&R Sy-TEC Adds Portability, Expands Features with SpatialCAD

THE DALLES, OREGON, JANUARY 17, 2007

R&R Sy-TEC Is adding the finishing touches on a complete re-invention of their successful flagship software product, SQLCAD. The new version, called SpatialCAD, is scheduled for release in the Summer of 2007.

The new product is portable between AutoCAD Map, ESRI, and other GIS Platforms. While SpatialCAD has all of the facilities maintenance, work order management, circuit management, and outage tracing tools of SQLCAD, a wide range of geo-spatial query functions have been added. These functions give users a broad array of tools for examining the digital plant model for both financial and engineering analysis. This expanded functionality is what led to the renaming of the product.

Besides adding new features and capabilities, SpatialCAD takes advantage of new software development technologies.  The product is built using the Microsoft .NET framework, and designed to be compatible with the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 platforms. The use of the .NET framework increases the modularity of the product. This provides for faster development of new or customized features, and more efficient deployment of updates. The use of this technology also ensures that product installations function correctly along side the security features of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Like its predecessor, SpatialCAD is compatible with most industry standard database platforms. Additionally, the data access functions of SpatialCAD are built around a scalable data access framework. This allows the product to function equally well in single-user or large, distributed network environments, and can support web-based client installations.
